It takes forever to get parts for my 750
« on: March 29, 2007, 09:52:17 AM »
It's been weeks since my CB project got any attention. engine assembly is halted waiting for the second set of valve guides to arrive. The first got lost in the mail. Before that it was 2 weeks for the gaskets, 2 weeks researching piston rings and getting quotes, 1 week to get them, forgot the wrist pin clips so there's another week and one more for the stainless bolt set.

In my boredom I even bought a scale and balanced the piston-rod assemblies.

Hubs and spokes are waiting for my new rims from Honda parts direct. There was some problem with the email and took a week to confirm the order. Thanks Jonesy for the tip, I was gonna shell out $90 per hoop for re chroming.

I sanded by hand all the paint off the gas tank to repaint. Chemical strippers would have worked too fast leaving me with nothing to do so I used sandpaper and a utility knife blade.

Weather hasn't been favorable for painting so that's on hold too, maybe this weekend.

The frame is powdercoated, has been for a while but can't do anything to it until I mount the engine.

So at this rate riding season 2007 is looking bleak since this was gonna be my only ride. Not that I have lots of cash to put into it, so I came to the following conclusion:

The speed of internet shopping for old Honda parts is very close to my funds availability rate. :P :P :P

I've had good luck using prosourceoutlet.com for OEM parts. Took them about a week (including shipping time) to get me a handful of gaskets and seals to rebuild my 76 750f.
partsnmore.com is even faster for aftermarket parts.

Have fun with the bike once it's done..... spring of 2011 ;)

Hmmm.
Makes me recall an old commercial slogan,  I think it was from Ernest & Julio Gallo...

"We will serve no whine before it's time."
