Hi All,

I've got a MAC 4:1 header and megaphone on my '77 CB550K.  I haven't yet tried to change the oil filter element since I put this exhaust on last season..  Anyone know off hand if the filter housing will fit between #2 and #3 header pipes?  It looks like it is gonna be tight, and I'd hate to have to remove the exhaust and then replace those header gaskets!!

I don't know what brand of exhaust I have on mine, but yes, I can service the oil filter through the exhaust.  It's a '75 K, but I have a 4-1 collector instead of the original 4-4.

I have a MAC 4-1 on my CB650, and I can service the drain plug/oil filter housing just fine.  Just gotta watch the oil that can drip out of the housing all over the pipe crossovers!

I have a MAC 4-to-1 on my 750, The filter housing will fit through on mine but I have to rotate it 90 degrees side to side. There are to things to be mindfull of: 1) Oil will drip a bit and get on your pipes, so be prepared. 2) If you heat up your bike before you do the oil and filter change, those pipes is HOT! (duh) a good pair of heat resistant gloves would be wise. Best of luck

I acquired a 75 CB550K with a 4 into 1 installed on it.  The manufacturer of the header and muffler were so proud of the system, that there were no manufacturer markings to be found anywhere on it. (something about protecting the guilty, I think)

Anyway, on a group ride with other SOHC4 persons, it was proclaimed a MAC, as everyone said it looked like one.
I had no issues with changing the oil filter on this bike (below).

Cool!  Thanks for the info guys- I knew you'd all come through!

TT- cool looking blue paint!  That looks like a MAC "Can" style exhaust- I had one on my CB900F..  They sound great in MHO.

I have a 75 550f with a new Mac 4 into 1 and the oil filter is easily changed without touching the exhaust although I do usually manage to spill oil on the pipes.
