Goodbye CB550 Disney Signals!
« on: March 30, 2007, 11:52:28 AM »
Finally got around to replacing the ’70s Disney signals with a slimmer more modern set.

I used 2000 Buell X1 signals and was totally stoked to find that they thread right into the headlight mount. No drilling, no tapping, just screw them in and plug into harness. They even have the same bullet connector used on the early Honda’s. Bonus!

The rear signals took a little more work because the threaded shaft of the Buell signals is 10mm and not very long. Just had to remove the fender and grind the captured nut from the fender, drill to 10mm and bolt it all up. Total time required was about 4 beers.

Cheers
Jimmy

Looks good!

I'm gonna be replacing the overly-large "Disney" signals on my 400 with the smaller, earlier factory "Beehive" signals, as was standard on Non-US market bikes.

Looks MUCH better than stock..
Drag specialties sells these little "bullet" 1157 dual fillament marker lights that work very well for brake/running/tail lights on these little bikes --->

I think they are about $40 a set..

Those look great, my 550 and I thank you!  I purchased my 550 missing its signals and have been looking around for a more modern set - the smoked lenses are sweet.  Were those taken off the bike in the background of the first pic?

Hey, any of you fellas want to part with your old signals? I'm looking for a pair of the large amber "disney" signals to put on the front of my CB750 project. I'll take them off your hands and they'll go to a good home. I'll pay shipping and a little extra if you'd like. PM if you're interested.  ;D

They where taken from that Buell, but they are from a 2000 X1.
My Buell is a '97 S1

FunJimmy,

I just installed the same Buell signals, sharp looking units if I do say so myself.
