The new ride is a little quicker than my old....
« on: March 31, 2007, 09:14:55 AM »
And a hell of a lot lighter!

Just bought a new to me 98 cbr 600f3 with a damn cool looking paint job called the "Desert Storm Edition".

I know I know....I bought a plastic fantastic but I wanted something to use as a daily rider while I get my 78k to where it needs to be...

I don't have any pics yet as I will be picking it up tonight if all goes well...left him the deposit and I gotta bribe a buddy with a truck to give me a hand getting it home. Will post once I get them though...

my digital camera flaked out on me this weekend so this is the best I have and it doesn't really do it justice but oh well...

By the way should it scare the crap out of me that the speedo goes up to 280 km/h???

Very nice bike..and as for the speedo...be very afraid...that bike if its anything like my VF in terms of speed..it will be able to pin the needle if you get daring enough to try..

...only when you find the spedo needle hovering around that speed!  Before I came to my senses and realized you are a split second from death at those speeds,  I took my 600f2 up to 240km/hr.  The front end feels a little light. They are quite the wheelie bike.  Enjoy.... and be careful  :)

Don't worry about all that "plastic" talk Dennis, I've had a VFR and now a Triumph Sprint 955i and love the way they handle, stop, go and eat the miles. I did 10k miles on my VFR last year (wouldn't want to do that to my old girl CB500K).

There are idiots on both types of bike - it's just that the newer ones tend to be faster idiots (I won't say younger, as most of the sports and sports tourer riders over here are 40+)

BTW - I've noticed that Triumph refer to there new 1050 Sprint as "Urban Sports", so not even a "SPorts Tourer" any more.  They'll be putting out a camo one next!

PS. Never been on a CBR600 but they make as much power as my VFR so must be REAL fun...

Last Sunday. Sold it to a member of the UK VFR Forum.

He rode off with the standard exhaust can in his packpack! (anyone who knows how big standard cans are on modern bikes will understand what a feat this was)

I was looking for a Blackbird and riding around on a borrowed Daytona 900, when I found this Sprint ST 955i in the back of a local dealer.
