I am an idiot.
« on: March 29, 2007, 12:11:31 PM »
So I've been going on lately about how proud I am to be finally lubricating my chain on a regular basis.  I park in the street when I get home and immediately give it a squirt of PJ1, letting any drips mess up the street - which is a whole lot better than messing up my garage.  I did this last night.  Later I pulled into the garage for the night.  What I didn't do was turn off either the key or the petcock.  One sticky float later, this morning I find that I have lots of gas all over and a dead battery.  So much for not messing up the garage.  Sunny and in the 50's today.  Luckily, it was "Pick up my new CB175 day" so I was driving the truck no matter what.  Grrrrummmmppphhhhh.  I just hope my battery will come back.  Sometimes I worry about myself.   >:(

Don't feel too bad, it happens..

I quoted a guy a price for three tandem axle straight trucks today without factoring in FET (Federal Exsise Tax). Lets just say I was about $30,000 short on my pricing  :-\

It happens...

Naw, it was a preliminary quote.
I called him and explained what I did so nothing was signed (thank god).
I doubt I will hear back from him but what can I do ?
Tomorrow is another day..

Let's see here,

Well, you seem human to me. And you are ob viously more intelligent than you let on as you are a member here. It happens, it's the screw up we learn from best, not the easy stuff we got right the first time.

Life would be boring without all the shAd that happens to us.
Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

I am hyper-multi-tasking and running on overload....fade to black.

But on the bright side, I got my new CB175 safetly to the storage bin in one piece!  A minor miracle unto itself; Wo-hoo!   ;D

Update: I plugged in my brainless 18V trickle charger for the night, this morning I had a decent 12.77V off the terminals, fired her up and off to work I go.  I'm back in action.  And when I got in to work, I actually did remember to shut off the petcock and turn off the ignition.  ;D

On some of my bikes, the heads fill with gas and I have to turn it over with the plugs out to get gas out.  Fortunatly, it doesn't sound like that happened to you.  However- DO check to see if you have gas in the oil.  You may need to change your oil ASAP.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Thanks for the heads up.  I need to do my full spring tune-up anyway.  I've been a bad boy, when I pulled it out this spring, it fired right up.  Not being able to help myself, off I went with only a minimal check-up.  I guess I know what's on tap for this weekend: wrenching-time.

Wo-hoo!  Full tune-up, oil change and finally installed those new throttle cables I bought over the winter.  Now for the test ride!

All part of life - stuff happens. Be thankful some heater didn't magically turn on and fall over into the leaked gas.
