winter refurb all done - thanks to all!
« on: April 01, 2007, 06:26:11 PM »
hi all - older bike nut took on a '78cb750k in good shape to refurb w/the intentions of using it as a commuter rig this spring.  with gas nudging up towards $3/gal, not a bad plan.  progress so far, with help from this fine site:

maint/refurb - new chain/sprockets, metler lazertecs, cables, fork seals, swingarm bushes checked (ok), trued up rims to 1.5mm, full disass/clean carbs, adj valves/points/cam chain
upgrades - Hel steel braided line, EBC pads, 118 jets, tapered steering head bearings
lightened- heavy, chromed highway pegs/naked mermaid sissy bar/grips off, centerstand off, heavy, rusted out jardeine turn-outs/brackets off, mac 4/1 with shorted baffle/slashcut can on, heavy chromed mirrors off, light alum barend mirror on, F fender off (brace stayed on), crankcase breather/separator off
bling - rear mounted F brake, added chromed air box/inst pods, added black lowrise bars, OEM phillips screws replaced w/ hex head cap screws
other - shortened seat 1 1/5inches, shortened rear blinker stalks, halogen headlight, spring backed off for easier throttle

all the above was done with your fine help.  since i live in the sticks, my resources are here.  many, many thanks!   ;)

Cool deal congrats on the refurb. I too have a K8. Any pics of it?
