Will a 4.00-19 be alright on the stock 1.85 rim?

I guess I usually go with the other size so I dont know the conversion off hand. I use a 110/90-19 on the front. Works very well and look good too.

I think a 110 is the biggest you can go on the front..

I would expect so, since that width tire is used on 1.85 rear rims routinely.  But, the manufacturer would know what width rim was required for the tire.  Have you looked at the manufacturrer web site for rim width recommendations?

Cheers,

I was looking all over for a 110/90-19 tire for the Lester front rim I acquired(2.15-19). I thought the 100/90-19 that I normally run on the stock rim would be too narrow. I checked Pirelli's specs and find the 100/90-19 is rated for a 2.15-2.5 rim. All this time I've been squeezing that skinny tire on a undersized 1.85 rim. Who knew :P :)
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Thanks for all the help thus far. First hand experience always appreciated.

According to this metric/standard calculator, a 110/90-19 is 26.8" tall, is 4.3" wide, and has a 3.9" sidewall. While the 100/90-19 is 26.1" tall, 3.9" wide, and has a 3.5" sidewall. I guess a 4.00-19 should slip in there just fine.

Thanks again.
