« on: June 20, 2005, 04:14:06 pm »
I am in need of new tires or my 1978 CB750K8. i'm thinking of getting the  K491 Elite II from Dunlop.

Has anyone else used these tires in the past?

What did you think of them?

I always recommend Metzeler as good tyres at a reasonable price.

I use bridgestone spitfires. Not only have they worked well and been very durable, but they also look more authentic for our year. Cheaper than any metzeler I have ever found.

I use Bridgestone Battleaxe. Good price & stick like s##t to a shiny shovel, even in the wet.

I’ve been running an Elite II  on the rear for some time now.  It’s a great all around tire.  Excellent wet and dry performance, and has a rounded profile that I like.  (much like the Metzeler) Would I buy one again?  Yep I would.  I need a new front and I’m thinking or the Elite II for the front.  But I’ve been running the Metzeler ME33 in the front and would get it again also.

Go with the BattleAxes, I have been using them for a few years. they work well with our vintage suspension, you can grind the pegs all day long if you like.

I had 591's on the Hondamatic and have now switched to longer lasting 491's.  Vintage looks are not important, but good handling is.  I think the 591's were overkill now, since the old Honda was not as capable as the tires were.  I have ran Metzlers in the past on a BMW and found them to rather fast wearing as well.  I would guess that most name brand tires are pretty much the same, but I would stay away from the off brand, low dollar tires that are out there.
