Removing Fairing/Rewiring on 77CB550k
« on: June 22, 2005, 09:43:31 AM »
Hey all, I've been looking for a Windjammer III manual or something to help me remove the damn thing from my new bike, to no avail.

Does anyone know, assuming a stock wiring harness, how to:

A) Disconnect the wires going to the fairing properly.

B) Re-connect them to the bike.

I'm assuming you just open up the flap on the left side of the fairing and disconnect the wires there, but is there any special trick to undoing the crimped connectors?  And when that's done, do all those wires connect to the rest of the bike's wiring in the headlight bucket?

Thanks a lot!

Depends on model of 550. K1 & K2 inside headlamp K3 and some F in a plastic "box" under the tank.
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Ok, thanks!

So...is it just a matter of cutting the wires and soldering/crimping them back to the main harness, or should I be disconnecting the fairing some other way?
