Excellent news, Sam Is Chris using the stock gearbox? If so, what is your final drive ratio(front, rear sprocket)? I thought that low 13's would be great for this motor but Chris is sniffin' at high 11's. WooHoo!!
Hi Sean, what a wonderfull weekend, it was glorious sunshine all weekend (my bald spot caught it a bit)
We are useing the stock K4 gearbox the same as the old motor. The old motor only made 60bhp at 8500rpm, used all 5 gears and peaked in top across the line on 15/46 gearing (3.06) with no chance of the front end lifting off the line with Chris on board.
Before we went to the meeting, we took the bike on a short quiet road to get some miles on it. Chris did a few standing starts and had the front end pawing the air without any effort at all.
In order to cure this, I raised the gearing to 17/42 (2.47) what I thought would allow him to launch without scareing the life out of him, and would allow him to peak in 4th as he crossed the line.
The gearing suited the quarter but didn't stop him pulling wheelies 40/50 yards out of the hole
causing him to roll it off and record slower ETs.
I thought myself that the bike might run low 13s/high to mid 12s but was blown away when he ran the 12.17. It should go into the 11s when jetted right, it was running that rich , it started sooting the plugs on the last 2 runs.
Sam.
