As some of you know, I have not seen Chris in 8 weeks, he has had problems at work and found himself a lady friend.

I had words with him a few days ago and told him to get his arse into gear or get the fcuk out of my workshop.

It did the trick and he has started work on the new exhaust, so we may be off to the dyno in the coming weeks.

I'm off line now untill monday, will let you know then how the weekend went.

I'm in two minds wether or not to build a full on race motor from the CB750 F I have just aquired.
The fact that you can run alcohol through these carbs pleases me.
If your carbs have been jetted for methanol, I would think that the mains would be way to high for pump petrol (gas).

Sam. ;)
I dont know if this has been answered or if it is even a question, but I had several v8 race engines over the years so I have a bit of knowledge on the subject of methanol. It takes quite a bit more methanol than gas. It also takes more volume which could become a problem with the petcocks and fuel lines. the benefit is more HP and a cooler running engine. If you pour the nitro to it you loose the cooling properties, but gain even more HP. I think it would be awesome in one of these cb's

71cb750,

I got rid of the other 750 when I thought of the cost of a blow up  :( also I need to consentrate on my other projects.
I do know what you were saying though as I went down that route in the early 70s.
The cost of running fuel these days is way to much for my pocket :(

Hi Steve, although the CRs motor is strong, I don't think it will be any where near to Mikes.
It will be intresting to see Sparties numbers though ;)
I think Chrises motor will turn between 75 and 80bhp.

Well we got the collector to can pipe sorted, we spent about 4 hours reshaping the pipe then took it to the welders to have all the sections welded together.
It came out allright but needed a bracket welding onto it to stop it flapping about.
I dropped it off at the welders this afternoon but he was unable to squeze the work in, I will have to collect it later in the week.

Sam, Mike promised 500 HP to the rear wheel. :o ;)

I'll have it Dyno tested after I break it in.  How many miles do you suppose that will take?

About 20 minutes, thats all ours got. You will have to ask Mike on that one though, Chrises motor was built with clearences ready to race.
We just ran it for 20 minutes at 4500rpm to clean off the coating recomended by Megacycle.

Can't wait to here the figures Sam,give me something to aim for with my Cr when go to the dyno at the end of this week. Thought you would be expecting more hp with that big motor. What should I expect with the 750?
Thanks also sam for your visit at Croft last week, good to put a face to the supremo.

Hi Peter, can't remember what the specs were on yours but seem to remember you saying you had F2 pistons or was it the head.
that combo more or less guarantees 73bhp straight off.
And then there are those carbs (still as jealous as fcuk  ;D ) and the head work, you should get around the 80 mark I would think.
