Thanks Art, sorry but no speeds were recorded across the line :( :( :(

I would think they would be about the same as at North Weald as the times were the same.

Dyno next Saturday morning and maybe a Flyer at Elvington with me on board if Chris lets me. ::) ::) ::)

 Well it's about time. ;) What's that...84 or so. I tell people....these bikes really don't make power over 10,000 RPM.

 I'm guessin' 86, or so. Very nice indeed, Sam. That's about +11hp and +12 max torque compared to my 836 with the same cam ;D ;D ;D ;D

  I'm printing this out and posting it on the garage wall for inspiration ;) :)
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Impressive numbers from a 35 year old Honda. Your running low 12's now, but what do you hope to actully run once you get the jetting and tuning dialed in?

What was the A/F ratio?  That is a nice power band. 6,500 to 9K.

Hi guys, I couldn't post more than just the dyno sheet as I was on the dyno mans computer on Saturday.

The air to fuel ratio was way to rich up to half throttle so we lifted the needles up two notches, they were on the bottom setting.
We had to go down one as it weakened it to much.

We then had to richen the top end by going up from #112 mains to #115.

These were the settings that produced 86bhp with 62 foot lbs of torque.

The power comes in very fast at 7,000rpm and rushes up to 8,500rpm, it moves that fast that Chris has been having problems catching it and seeing well over 9,500rpm at the gear change.

The following day we were at York Dragway and Chris got the shock of his life. Instead of driving off the line and the front wheel coming up about 50 yards out as it had been doing, he was smoking the tyre to the 60 foot timing lights ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We dropped the pressure in the rear tyre to get more grip and he recorded a 12.3 at 110mph.

Although this was a semi prepaired drag strip it did present problems for a few people. I myself only rode there once and I can remember the problems I had with grip with a lot wider tyre on my VFR400R.

I'm not sure if we have seen the best out of the bike as it ran faster with the four open pipes with megaphones.

It was an enjoyable weekend and Chris was well pleased with it all. :D

Hi ekim, the tuning and jetting seem fine now, it's more a case of getting Chris dialed in ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Chris weighed in at 285lbs when we first put the new motor in. Since then he has lost about 35lbs and we have the motor more or less spot on.

We will have to wait till a meeting comes up where we know the surface and see how he deals with it.

The last three meetings we have done have been at tracks that Chris has never ridden on and all the surfaces have been diferent.

He is going to have to learn how best to deal with the new found abundence of power and difering track surfaces.

I'm sure there is an 11 in there somwhere ;)

Thanks Sean, it would have been interesting to have had it on the dyno with the unsilenced 4 into 4 race pipes on, I think there might have been a couple of more horses in there. ::) ::) ::)

    Judging from your earlier times, I concur. OPEN 'ER UP!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

    After tuning these CR's up and down it looks like I'm going to end up just about where you are. 115 mains, needles in the middle. Godspeed is installing their new dyno this weekend so I'm giving them a week or two to get used to it. Lookin' at third week of October :)

    Glad to hear that Chris has given up the "donuts and gravy" breakfast. Nice thing about us hefty guys is that we don't have to hack all kinds of parts off to go faster. Just diet ;) :D :D

The reason I ask, is that I'm running lean at WOT with 120's down here at a couple hundred feet above sea level. At about 3500 feet, it gets better.
Also, I assume both of you are running CR's? I'm running stock carbs. The CR's may have more fuel flow from 115's than stock, I dunno.

Hi Art, the power comes on very strong at 7,000 and falls off at 8,500 rpm.

Chris fluffed one of his starts when it spun up and stepped out on him. He corrected it and knowing he had messed up he just carried on down the strip. I heard him change into second real early then he opened it up. The revs were rising slowly with him being in a higher gear but it was real noticeable when he reached 7,000rpm. The speed the motor picks up when it reaches 7,000 is unreal.

The A/F wondered about a little but was within acceptable parameters, I think the dyno man said it was around the 13.2 region most of the time. He said it was perhaps down to the rather weird YY8 needles. They are a funny shape.

    I run 125's in stock carbs at sea level( well, "bay" level if ya wanna get technical ). Drilled stock airbox with K&N filter. I started out overjetting the mains(130) when I really just needed to raise the needle.

   The CR carbs definitely flow much better than stock carbs. I did not expect to jet down to 115 but that's what they seem to want.

Those 34mm valves really help Sam. If you bore the ID of the seat to 90% of the valve diameter you really start to move some air. If the lobe centers were set a bit higher you'd pull an extra 2 HP IMO. You'd lose some torque though. That's a great running engine sir....congratulations.

I can't help you much with that one Mark. All the tracks we run at are more or less just a few metres above sea level and one of them is actually below it :o :o :o
The only high one is only around 600 feet above and it doesn't seem to affect the performance.

You are most welcome Sam. Great to see the results of the finished product. There is some special hardware in that engine that most fella's don't know exist. Thank God for good connections to Kibblewhite!!! ;)
