It isn't funny. It is an example of the absolute stupidity of elected officials, everywhere. In the case of this story, Florida has homestead laws that prevent foreclosure (until they die) on a person's principal place of residence unless the owner has explicitly signed a mortgage on the property. Think about that. That is why people like O.J. Simpson move to Florida. It is a bankruptcy and lawsuit haven where you can own a million-dollar home and nobody can touch it. The city counselors in the story just wasted the taxpayer's time and money with their silly , unenforceable law.
