New owner of a '77 CB750F says hello!
« on: April 01, 2007, 07:21:38 PM »
Hi everyone,
After a few years of NO-BIKE, I decided some kind of cheap old bike was better than no-bike. To my pleasant surprise, that ad for a "chep starter bike - needs repair" turned up a rust-free '77 CB750 with corroded points and stuck needles. It was been painted with some weird, lumpy chameleon purple paint, but underneath the color, the bike looks quite sound. No rust, no pitting, just dusty and a little greasy here and there. Brakes and electrics are all good, and the engine now starts nicely with a quick shot of ether up the carb throats. The carbs themselves need to be rebuilt, as the needles have chrome plating flaking off them. My kids are beside themselves with glee--- They can't wait to go for a ride. I've been an AMA member since 1990, and usually had something ride until a few years ago when the three kids were so young that I never had time to do anything but shuttle them around in the minivan. I sold the VTR one summer after realizing that I had only put fifty miles on it in the last couple years. Now that they are older, I think there will be some motorcycling time with each of them. The CB750F fits the bill, I think.

Once I get the machine together, I'll snap a photo or two and post them. If the bike sticks around for next summer, I think I'll definitely need to restore the tank and covers to a factory original finish. Now, where can I get Honda graphics for a '77 CB750F?

If you find someone to reproduce the graffics on your tank please spread the word. there is supposed to be someone in my area but so far I've failed to locate him. will keep up the search and kidnap him when he is found.

Welcome!

Contact www.reproductiondecals.com for the graphics. Honda got all crazy about people advertising them so you won't find many sites out there that have them listed. That doesn't mean they are not available or that those companies don't carry them, you just have to ask via email or phone.

There's a selection of graphics suppliers in the FAQ. Take a look here

tmht is correct in that most of the suppliers have been leaned on by Honda who don't seem to understand that a little bit of "copyright infringement" actually keep a vibrant market afloat and their name out there on the streets!

So no decals on most of the websites, but call them and they are happy to discuss there products.

If you want cheap repro decals, checkout oldbikebarn.com.  They have the tank stripes for the 77 750F.
