Silly switch question
« on: April 03, 2007, 01:51:48 PM »
Apologies in advance for this one, but I'm new and have nobody else to ask. I have a '75 400F I'm working on and just wanted to confirm that the turn signal switch should not return to center on its own. I am assuming that unlike a newer bike, this one cancels by sliding the switch manually back to center rather than pressing it in. Thanks.

There is a mid position for changing lanes, that will self cancel.  If you move the lever far enough, it should stay there until someone yells at you for leaving your blinker on.  These bikes also had a buzzer for the full on position.  But, many people would rather leave the blinker on for hours and curse other drivers for pulling out in front of them, rather than have the buzzer remind them their blinker is on.

Cheers,

No buzzer on the 400. At least not on the '76 US model. Stock switch also only has 3 positions L-OFF-R. I had to disassemble mine when I was putting the bike together not to long ago. (Don't ever drop those little ball bearings they use to "lock" the switch in position)
