Ignition wires - mistake?
« on: April 03, 2007, 02:03:34 PM »
Bought a new set of Dyna coils and the 8MM suppression graphite core wires.   How do you attach the silicone core to the brass connector (the part the gets shoved into the coil).  Do I just fold the core back over the outer casing and crimp it together?

Hope you have better luck with those carbon type wires than I did.  I hate those POS wires.  I had a set of ACCELL's and theu were crap.  Changed over to the DYNA solid copper and HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE.  I'm not concerned about the radio interference that the solid wires may throw out, so the choice was easy.
One of the carbon wires I had burned out at the end that was "folded over", and another one was constantly arcing through the insulation, and wouldn't quit until the bike was good and warmed up.  I'm enjoying the solid copper DYNA wires   ;D

That's because you got ACCELL's.  Never buy anything made/branded by Accell...

Word.  I have used the Dyna suppresion wire for years...you have to with digitial igntions or other devices. Most dragrace guys use them too. Just make sure you don't fray the end before crimping AND invest 7 or 8 bucks in the mini MSD crimping tool.

Where can one get this tool?  Sounds like a wise investment.
