Does Yamiya sell Yoshi repro pipes?
« on: March 22, 2007, 01:40:11 PM »
I was looking at the Japanese Yamiya web site and saw something interesting.  Under the muffler section they have a 4 to 1 set called MO11.  Does any one know if this is a Yoshimura replica?  I sent them an inquiry to see if they had more pics of it, or pics of the system on a bike.  Does any one know anything about this?

No idea but I do know that Yamiya make the best stuff (or use the best stuff if they dont make it themselves - these guys are fanatical about CB750s). If you look at a previous post of mine about Nagoya, Japan you will see some photos of their shop when I went there in 2006.

Good luck,
Andy

I asked Yamiya a while ago if they are Yosh pipes.
Nope.
But its a nice-looking pipe all the same.

If I get something back from them, I'll post it here but It looks a reasonable deal.  $350 for the pipes and around 200 for shipping.  about $550 bucks for a set of pipes straight from the motherland.
The megaphone from my kerker system is beat and a new exhaust for the rebuild sounds really tempting!

The picture of the outlet shows what could be a large circlip holding the baffle plate in, so maybe you can repack it.

I have a friend with the yoshi pipe, and this looks nothing like it.

Andoo is right.  I have an original NOS Yoshi exhaust.  The Yoshi has a removable tail pipe that begins at the end of the four-tube collector and has a bolt-secured baffle.  The bends downstream of the collector are smooth, not angular welds and there is a rear supporting tab that bolts to the CB750 frame.

I was hoping that the Yamiya exhaust was an exact duplicate, because I've had difficulties finding anyone who would do a limited run of my exhaust design without a major setup charge.  Looks like my search is on again.

Thanks for posting the pics, Rhonda.  It just so happens that today I also got in a number of photos from Yamiya.

I do think, though, that this looks like a totally acceptable exhaust for the money.  $400 USD delivered is cheap for a new well-made midweight exhaust that will perform strongly across the mid and upper rev range, unlike the heavy and beautiful, but anemic, Kerker.  RR

I was put on Earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Now I'm so far behind, I'll never die!

I to have an original Yosh exhaust but on my 78 GS 2 valve Suzuki (race version)
I was quoted about 1800.00 to have a copy of mine made
so it is very expensive (10 years ago too)

that Yamiya is a Sweet pipe though
and even if its not meant to be re-buildable
I am sure you can cut the end off and make it re-buildable

thanks for the web site

I'm interested in one of these too...maybe they'd give us a group rate if we bought a bunch of 'em.

Yamiya are very good people and ship fast - my past experience 2 days from Japan. Ive been to the shop and chatted with them - they are the real deal. I wouldnt count on a group discount though -they have a big enough market in Japan. Who knows though, you could try.

cheers
Andy

doesn't appear to be any mounting flanges around the muffler.
i wonder if these have to be custom-mounted - e.g., welded flanges?

It looks a lot like the RC Engineering Pipe I have. Maybe not upswept as much but the RC pipe is a drag pipe and not a road race pipe (unless you jack up the rear an inch).
