Topic: DOHC carbs on a SOHC 750?

I am picking up my newest aquistition tomorrow afternoon  , and I know the bike comes with no carbs ...
However, I do have a fair set off of a 1979 DOHC(80?)750.

Has anyone ever tried to fit a set of carbs from a DOHC onto a SOHC??
Is the spacing even close enough to try it?
BTW, the bike i'm picking up is a '74 750 SOHC.

Best I can say is try them and if they fit let us all know!

I've asked the question, and haven't heard either way

I will definately see how they fit and post the results, probably about 5 minuites after I get her home!

I figure IF they fit, they should be adequate for a single valve setup, if anything breathe better than stock for tht year carbs, since the DOHC has 2 intake and exhaust valves, and the SOHC's use one per intake and exhaust.

But i'm just guessing there.

The DOHC carb spacing is different than the SOHC carb spacing. The DOHC ses the same spacing as the Kawasaki DOHC 900/ 1000

Could the DOHC carbs mount to the SOHC carb mounting plate?
