Help with cam chain plz
« on: June 19, 2005, 12:48:26 PM »
I have loosened the lock nut and tried to turn the adjuster but it is stuck, it tries to move counter clockwise and tighten the chain even more, but it will not turn clockwise. Any suggestions?

??? Better explanation of u'r problem needed.  You lossened which nut?  The one at the crank shaft or the 2 nuts on the cam chain sprocket?  And what is stuck...the crank shaft?  If so, can you turn it over with the kick start?

Which bike are you talking about?  If it's the CB400f (CB550) then the adjustment is only done by slacking off that nut and screw while the motor is idling and then re-tightening. You do not screw it hard in to take up slack. I cannot speak for the CB750 but I'm sure other forum members will put you right on that score.

If the adjuster is stuck, you will need to take the tension unit off and clean it out and oil it. Should work then. I had to do that with my 78 750. I could loosen the bolt to adjust the tension and nothing would happen. Took it apart and cleaned. Put it back on and it snaped in just like it should.
