Hello all!
This is a long introduction, but why use ten words when a couple hundred will do?
BANDIT here with my introduction to you lot.
I just turned 50 in February, been married for 28 of those this summer. I'm a welder at Sterling in St. Thomas and I've been there for 15 yrs.
I don't own a Cafe bike (yet, don't tell my wife) but I do own 3 bikes my race bike, 72 Honda 350 done to the tits, an 85 Yamaha Maxim-X 750 (had 'er since day one) and my current ride a 2004, 1200 Bandit, hence the name.
Also, seeing as I'm there I'd like to tell you about a little trip I'm taking at the end of May. Anybody here heard of the TT? You'd be amazed how many people that ride haven't.
Like I said earlier, I just turned 50, so as a present to myself I'm going to the Isle of Man for the 100th anniversary of the TT.
I started planning this on May 27th last year. I already had a place to stay on the island with friends so the first thing on the list was the Ferry from Liverpool to Douglas and back. Then it was a long wait to book my flight seeing as the air lines don't release their spring flights until November. Then I went in search of a bike rental, most of the companies are in the south of England but I lucked out and found one about 45 mins from my sisters place near Manchester. After several emails and a chat on the phone I not only secured a bike but the dealer is sponsoring a first time racer at the TT this year and asked if I would like to be on the team! I'll only be a gofer but instead of watching from the stands or around the track, I'll actually be in the pits!!!
So I'm thinking now....I'm only going to be 50 once, and the TT (if it lasts) won't have a mjor event until the 125th anniversary (maybe) soooooo, I decided to treat myself even more. I went online and bought VIP (front rows) tickets to THE WHO in concert at the Peel Heritage Festival, I'm like 5 rows from the stage!! With the ticket I get private reserved parking at the concert, a seperate entrance so no big line ups, champagne when I show up and a chance to go backstage after the show (not confirmed) to meet the guys! But it doesn't stop there....I also bought a ticket to theHspitality Suite at the Grandstand for the final day of racing. The Senior TT and the Parade of heroes, again I get reserved parking, private entrance, gourmet brekfast and lunch. I'm also told that the top riders will be in and out of the suite all day signing autographs and allowing pictures and stuff.
Well, if you're still reading, thanks.
Here's a couple of links if you want to see more info on the trip.
