Hey there, i've been on here a while just reading everyone elses topics trying to soak up 30 years worth of knowledge about these machines from all of you.  I've got a '77 750-f2 i bought in october and rode the hell out of since then, I think I've put about 3000 miles on it reletively trouble free.  But unfortunately trouble free cant last forever, yesterday i dropped a valve, fortunately it didn't drop all the way into the cylinder, I'm currently pulling the motor out so that I can get the head off and see what kind of damage.  If I'm lucky all i have is maybe a bent valve and a little dent in the top of the piston. Wish me luck!

Bummer. Hope it's not too serious. Keep us posted. If you can, and are interested, we have an album in the Gallery for pics of bad things that happen to good bikes. ;)
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Man, I am just west of Fayetteville AR. I am going outside right now and will wave to the west. Look and see if you can see me.
My sister lives in Owasso. If you need a Dentist she's your lady. Let us know what you find on your motor.

well, i got the motor out!....... whew!!  actually it wasn't that bad, i even still have all the skin on my knuckles... not sure that will last the night though.  i found that the retaining washer thingy was actually split in two.... now for the fun part of getting the cam out and the head off!

I wonder, should i move this thread to another section of the forum?

Hey, Boober, welcome, and good luck on your top end repair/rebuild.  If I were you, I'd start a new thread in the tech section as soon as I had a question or two about the repair.  Pictures usually help to draw out good repair advice.

By the way, I love cool place names.  In this short thread, you've got, Catoosa, Okarche and Owasso. :-)
