Minnesota anyone?
« on: April 11, 2007, 10:25:27 PM »
I should start off by saying that at present we are still in Texas, but my wife is considering a position with a company in Winona, Minnesota (southeast, on the border of Wisconsin).

Are there any readers in this area? From the looks of maps, I get the idea that there are lots of real nice county road rides to be had, but from what I have heard there are 4 months a year tops to be riding a bike (unless I slap on spikes and start ice racing!)

There is alot of great riding down there, although I haven't made it down there myself. If you can handle riding in 40 degree temps, you can get about 6 months of riding.

I'm in MN right now, but moving back to IL next weekend. Good luck with the move if you decide to go for it.

The beauty of MN is there is plenty of time to work on your machine- aka winter and when spring & summer rolls around you enjoy it just a bit more than you would otherwise. However, with that said, I'm a native and I've been trying to relocate to a reasonable climate for some time ;)

Winona is a great area to ride. You'd be on the border of Wisconsin and just over the river there are tons of bluffs and back roads to get lost on. Amazing scenery in that part of Minnesota. It's pretty quiet in the summer, BUT its a thriving college town. If you don't live near campus, you'll be fine.
When the majority of the United States population get to be 70 years old, they will finally realize what is really important. And by then it'll be too late.
