Now that my 400 is sorted out, moving on to something else to occupy my time, and I have some general questions here before I dig too far into it. The bike is dissasembled but complete and picking it up sunday. The motor has some sort of big bore kit of unknown origin, the cylinders are off and the camshaft is scored - I'm just going to figure the whole thing as trash and pick up another engine. Will any year 750 engine bolt up, or should I stick with the early (k1?) engines? How about wheels/swingarms - are there any later model bits that bolt up, or would I be pissing into the wind? Can you use tubeless tires on these wheels? I plan on sticking with spoked wheels.

The plan is to blast/powdercoat everything and reassemble it. Thanks all

I think any sohc engine bolts right in, at least a 75 bolted into my 71. Same goes for the rest of the K bike, it remained the same with minor upgrades. There was a link I can't find where it told you what changed through the years referenced by serial number. I'll post it if I find it.

If you mean running the tires tubeless, no. But you can use tubes in tubeless tires.

How about the ignition wiring?

Any need for these brackets? (circled in red)

I wont be using the stock exhaust, bike came with a 4-1 Kerker, and wont need passenger pegs... I'll be knocking off any brackets I dont need (side covers, chain guard, etc) and the frame goes to get powdercoated next week.

those are the passanger peg mounts. also, some aftermarket exhausts used those points to mount the muffler. I say chop 'em the hell off!

What are these things? The shocks were mounted to the chrome brackets - can I toss them in the trash and mount the shocks to the more forward mounts instead?

Lowering blocks. To decrease the rear height. it moves shocks at more of an angle decreasing how high the bike sits.
You can definitely ditch them and use the stock mounts.

If you don't want the lowering blocks I'll take them - how much to post to OZ

Also don't touch the frame or blasted pieces with your bare hands - get some cans of etch primer on there straight away.....the powder coating will still stick to it, but will stop some oxidation of your frame until it gets to the powdercoaters.

You can have 'em - figure out how much shipping is, and how I can ship them (Fed Ex?) and they're yours.

The frame will only be sitting for 1-2 days - this ok?

If left sitting for a few days then make sure it is in a controlled environment like a heated or low humidity area. the etch prime will seal the surface and stick to it, and you can buy a few spray cans for small dollars..it will protect the bare surface until ready to coat it.

I'll be running a little higher than stock ride height I think - hopefully it will be ok

That is going to look great. cant go wrong with red in my book. I dont want to beat the horse,but I too am concerned about that bracket on the rear. I guess if it gives you trouble you can cut it off later though?

Found the stock tire sizes... looks like i'll be going 100/90/19 front and 120/90/18 rear in those pirellis.
