Connecting rod bolts cb550 ARP?
« on: February 14, 2025, 07:15:18 AM »
Hi everyone, I'am new to the fourm's and new to the cb550, I'm going through the motor and wanted to upgrade where I can on the bike to get more pep/smiles per mile.
has anyone used arp for connecting rod bolts, if so what part number are ya'll using? Is there another aftermarket option other than going with the carillo rods and bolts? Is it best to stick with oem? I know that most bolts that are torqued stretch. So i'm skeptical on using my old ones. Will be making more posts soon.
THANKS!

I have used the OEM 750 F2 rod bolts and nuts in the 550 rods quite a few times...they torque to higher value. Also polished the beams, balanced and shot peened them. Brent Waller raced with this of rod for a couple of seasons before going to Carrillo's.

Great information, thank you for that! Carillo's are definitely something I will have to save up for... I will most likley go this route with the 750 f2 rod hardware! I appreciate the reply!
