Engine Guards - 400/4
« on: April 10, 2025, 03:54:47 PM »
Got rid of my bigger bikes (HD Superglide and KZ1000) a few years back because they were just too heavy for me in my old age. The Honda 400 and Suzuki 380 that I have now are perfect size and weight wise, until recently. Dropped the 400 just moving it around in the garage and could barely lift it up. Luckily it was on the left side and damage was minor. Anyone have or know of engine guards for the 400/4? Thank you.

Yamiya shows a set, but only for 4-1 exhaust.

There are sets available, I think Webike has them on their website.
Be super careful when installing engine guards. The lower mounting bolts are known for being too long and cracking your engine case, right at an oil passageway.

I can relate about the bikes getting heavier. I've been working on a Honda Shadow Spirit 750.  After getting it running, I took it for a test run. It's a pig!
I can't wait to move it to someone elses garage

Tarozzi used to make some but apparently they do not any more.
Maybe could find a used set.
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

Its not installing the caseguards that is the problem is the removal, the guards come with longer bolts to account for the steel bracket and if you replace those bolts without the bars the length is enough to punch a hole in the crankcase
