400F rear wheel installation question
« on: April 12, 2007, 01:54:53 PM »
Yikes!  I feel like a bit of a dumbo having to ask this, but I relied on my memory when I took the wheel off, and now I can't remember:

there are two spacers - one for each side.  One spacer is a little longer than the other (by 3 or 4 mm's).  Which spacer goes on which side?  Is the bigger one for the sprocket side or for the brake side?

I could swear I made the little memory thing "left/little" but after installing the wheel with the shorter spacer on the left (sprocket) side, I don't trust myself - it doesn't seem right somehow.

Can anyone help me .......  pleeease???

zane, both of my 400's have the larger spacer on the brake side. So does my 550.

Thanks a lot Richard.

After dinking around for a couple of hours, I have a funny feeling my 400 wants the larger spacer on the brake side too.

You're a lifesaver!  Thanks again.

I'll let you know how it works out.

(However it works - once I know it's right - I swear I'm going to mark one so I don't continue to make myself crazy forever.)
