Helmets with removable liners?
« on: February 25, 2007, 09:11:16 AM »
Who makes a helmet that has removable liners that you can washed?  On my SHOEI full face hekmet, only the chin piece can be easily removed for cleaning.  The rest of the helmet I have to dunk in the sink with Woolite to get (almost) clean.  I wear the helmet in all weather, all the time, and hate a dirty helmet  :P   I'm due for a new lid and I'd like to stick with a major brand that I can get parts and visors for easily without any hassels.

Had a spider living in my old half helmet-which had a removeable liner-made by HR ?
While riding I would occasionally see him zip across the inside of the visor !
What was he thinking?

Well, the Shoei X-11 has a completely removable liner. The RF1000's don't though, so I guess you've got to spend the extra $ on a x-11 if you want one from shoei. Arai has removable and washable interiors in the corsair, profile and quantum, but not apparently in the vector. Icon's Domain helmet has one, but not their other models. All of Suomy's helmets have a removable liner.  Seems like if you want a removable liner you need to go with the more expensive, high end model from the high end manufacturers....

HJC makes a $200 helmet with removable liner.  It's the AC-12 model...looks pretty nice for the price.  I've been thinking of replacing my 7-year old Arai with one of these:

You can check out specs for most helmets and order them here...I've had good luck with this place.

A lot of the 'lower end' helmets have a surprsigly long list of features that are missing from the pricier ones. When you have narrowed your list of choices down do a search to see what each model has to offer. HJC is a popular brand up here; and well priced.

My Caberg has a fully removeable liner. As do the two Sparco ones I use when rallying :)

I've got quite a sweaty head :P so as far as I'm concerned it's an essential feature, not an optional on ;D
