You do know the valve keepers are two-piece, right??

not the keeper itself, the retainer washer thing with the tapered hole that makes the keeper work

Are we talking #1 or #2 from the picture?

#1 are the valve keepers, #2 are the valve keeper seats.  If you're talking about #1, then it's supposed to come in 2 pieces to fit over the valve stem.

#2 of course.... i know the keepers are 2 pieces.... the seats are obviously supposed to be one piece..... and therein lies the problem.... i haven't gotten the head off yet... maybe later tonight... if im lucky there will just be a little ding in the top of the piston.... and hopefully no other damage... luckily i wasn't going anywhere when it happened, just idling and got it shut off rather quickly.  from what i have read here new valves are hard to come by and quite expensive.  so i hope that isn't going to be required(wish me luck)

Well thank you to all who crossed their fingers for me!  Looks like it did nothing to the piston but knock the carbon off in a spot... amazingly enough, the valve doesn't appear to be bent. But I will leave that determination to my machinist.  Does anyone know where to get a good gasket set? does honda still have em? And is there anything else that would be recomended to do since i have it stripped down this far???  Thank you all

If its out and head off you need to pull the cylinders and do the base gasket and I would change the cam chain and be very critical over the rubber rollers

I didn't realise the rollers were rubber till I got new ones from honda - mine felt like bakelite!

Have never seen a retainer broken in two.
