Perhaps technology and  the advance of human civilization was not due to the invention of tools alone but the development of "portable" tool kits  :)

The Ford Model T came with a basic tool kit as early as 1911!

WoW   :o  That early tool kit is fantastic to see! Thanks for sharing  :)

Thanks...great bike.  It is "Candy Blue", the OEM color for 1975.  I bought it 12 yrs ago and did a cosmetic restore, the body kit, including fuel tank is from a Japanese company Doremi, superb paint work.

Holy Sh!t

Another CB750 owner just sent me this listing for an owners manual for sale for a crazy, shocking price of $1000  :o  . . . and this manual is dated November 1969.  My manual is dated earlier at May 1969.  Is the May 1969 printing the earliest?

Not to rehash posts from a few years ago, but, has there ever been any pics of Steve McQueen riding a CB750?

I couldn't find any on google, it is interesting the seller didn't find any pictures either. He is often pictured on a 305 Dream with a windscreen. It was pointed out his name on the invoice has a different font M than the rest of the M's on the same sheet.

My apologies if I am rehashing an old post with Steve McQueen's Sandcast CB750.  The main purpose was to show the battered owners manual and tool kit but like most everyone I was shocked at the final price.  I read  the comments in the BAT auction questioning the authenticity of the ownership and the documentation of the bike.  All valid concerns.  The comments were made after the auction had finished so the seller never responded.

Machine tools weren't that common among the average population in 1911.
Likewise metric tools weren't that common in the US in the 1960's,

That listing has been up for a long time. They typically sell for $200-400. Yours certainly is one of the earliest I ever seen.

Thanks mate.  I just found this Honda CB750 Provisional Shop Manual on our favorite auction site.  Dated June 1969 or 1 month after my owners manual dated May 1969.  It makes sense to print the owners manual first and ship out the bikes.  Takes more time and feedback to develop a shop/repair manual.

Don't pull any punches  ;) Amazing collection of specialized Honda tools.  I have no idea what they are used for but I think I see a shock spring compression tool - I  certainly could use that right now  :)

There is one tool I bought from the Japan Resale Shop that is crazy and clearly represents a highlight of human tool development on planet Earth.  I'll try to take a photo once the sun comes up.

Dont be upset, its a difference of language and understandings, some famous person once said " England and America are two countries separated by the same language!"

Mystery Multi-Tool, world's smallest working crescent wrench made in Japan, and the key to my bike

In some languages they call the adjustable wrench a "Monkey" wrench.  I never understood the term.  Was it made by monkeys or to be used by monkeys??

And how did the word 'key' get into the word 'mon-key'  Perhaps there is someone on the forum who speaks Latin and can offer an interpretation

That centre one to me is an adjustable spanner, best type i ever had was made by Bahco, to mw a "monkey wrench" would be a set of Stillsons available in didderent sizes and also called pipe wrenches which leave "teeth" marks on whatever used on.

I have some of the tools on the Honda shadow board, I used to order a couple every year to build up my own collection so I could do work at home without having to carry tools home on the bike.

The mystery wrench is just a generic multi-tool commonly supplied with bicycles and other light machines.

In some languages they call the adjustable wrench a "Monkey" wrench.  I never understood the term.

I was curious and found this in a quick search...

"The origin of the name is not entirely clear, but Geesin reports that it originated in Britain with a fancied resemblance of the wrench's jaws to that of a monkey's face"
