Honda offered so many cool colors in the 1970s

You would really like riding a 550, they are much lighter and nimble than the 750 but still has adequate power [around 50hp]

I think I would love riding a 550 with  excellent handling.  There is a green one here in Thailand that is a real beauty. The colors available on the 550 over the years are all stunning.

Still undecided on a gas tank replacement and still waiting to hear back from Yamiya.

I found this candy gold gas tank from Germany that sold 2 years ago.   I think the black HONDA badges look good.    Not exactly sure if this tank is original or a reproduction.  Sold for €699 Euro plus shipping which I think is a reasonable price for a ready to install tank with badges and cap (still needs bottom trim). Has the black tank stripe been painted on or is this a decal/sticker??   I contacted the seller to see if he has any more gas tanks available.

Also a concern is the candy gold paint color on any tank will certainly not be a perfect match to the candy gold paint that is currently on the sidecovers, fork ears, and headlight bucket.

Immediate response from the seller

Hi, I can offer you a Repro fuel Tank in Candy Gold
Genuine is no longer available
Best regards

I just re-read the sold listing and it says original HONDA tank

https://www.befr.ebay.be/itm/325567540570

Repro tanks from vendors other than Yamiya make me nervous.  I see a lot of repro tanks for sale on Ebay from India with very low quality photos showing no detail.  Red Flag to Stay Away!

I just registered and placed my first order with David Silver Spares for the gas tank trim.  Lot of vendors selling very similar looking aftermarket tank trim but I wanted to start out with DSS and see how everything goes.  Shipping from the UK to Thailand via Royal Mail with tracking has always been very fast and reasonable price.

Late Edit:  Price for the trim £26.00. Delivery via Royal Mail to Thailand £12.00.  Total £38.00

Super fast response from DSS, excellent communication, and quick ordering and payment processing.

I found this gas tank for sale on facebook.  Messaged the seller and he was quick to reply.  He told me it was a new tank from a supplier in Japan?  When I asked for a confirmation photo of the tank with his name and date on a piece of paper he offered a photo of his drivers license instead.  His grammar is not very good which is a huge red flag for me so I suspect a scammer.  His last emails to me:

We are legit I can provide you my driver's license in case of anything you get me cut

quickly followed by

I hold my driver's license I snap with it send it to you all my information are on it

Received the gas tank trim today.  Ordered from David Silver Spares in the UK.  Excellent price, safe and secure packing,  high  quality (looks identical to the original trim and pre-curved to fit the shape of the tank), easy ordering , excellent communication, and super fast shipping and delivery.  5 star excellent vendor  :)

This Candy Gold Tank and Cover set located in Japan just showed up on Ebay and I would greatly appreciate your opinions.  Looks original and not perfect with some wear.  The rust to the tank is a real concern?  Price includes shipping so much cheaper than Yamiya's reproduction tank and side covers set

My biggest concern would be if those sidecovers are original, the posts are very brittle and could easily break if not extremely careful removing them.
Also appears like the tank was lined?  Not necessarily a bad thing but I did have one that failed when the painter did not prep it properly.
