A surprise SL100 winter project
« on: November 07, 2025, 02:06:19 PM »
I recently made a bittersweet discovery. My mother passed away earlier this fall and I have been going through things trying to get everything in order. During the process, I came across a file with my name on it. It contained titles and sales receipts going back decades, of bikes I’ve had in the past. One of the titles happened to be a 1971 Honda SL100 that I purchased in 1979 for $25. I’m thinking it was probably going to be a pit bike, but I really don’t remember buying it.

At any rate, sometime later, when going through things in the garage, I found the bike in a back corner hidden behind a pile of items. Working on the bike this winter will be a wonderful way to connect with memories of Mom and a rewarding way to honor her care for keeping those files safe for so long. She was a great Mom, and lived a long and colorful life. She always supported me, even when it was doing something she thought I probably shouldn’t be doing.

You will regret the bikes you DIDN'T buy much more than the ones you DID!!!  It's never too late to start a new adventure!

Dennis, I’m sorry to hear that your mom has passed.

Lucky you to find the SL and the title.
I sold my SL100 for $1 to my brother in law and nephews.
It was nowhere to be found when I went looking for it years later.

That's going to be a great memento working on it and every time you ride it. It's awesome. 8)

That is an awesome surprise Dennis to find she had the paperwork and the bike still. Live it to the fullest for her. I too am sorry for your loss that she has passed.

That reminds me that I need to call my mom this morning before she isn't around to call again before I get back home from this trip. Thanks for the reminder.
