That's the new style. I saw it on MTV. The REALLY cool people have a chrome plated attachment that spins while you're stopped.

You mean, helmets aren't worn in the same way baseball caps are?

But, think about it, if you wear your hair in a bun in back...

She probably didn't do up the strap 'cause it interfered with lip movement.  Can't have that.
How will people be able to hear as she approaches, " Ohmigod, how do I stop this thing!?"

Hey I used to have a striped helmet like that! like 20 years ago!.

Why is she wearing a helmet anyways? She looks like she has enough air up there to qualify as having an airbag! ;D

I know quite a few ladies that have a sense of humor.  Aren't they allowed here?   ???

My wife and I were talking about helmets and paint jobs/ decals/ etc. I was realizing that there is an aura of manliness alluding to a suit of armor. It's been publicised enough that it could be considered rather macho to be wearing your full padded leathers, specialty riding boo- "Well, I think they all look like chipmunks."  Thud

I think I dropped something around here, hon. Can you help me find it?
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Hey Lloyd.

Sure there are women here with senses of humor. And actually, I found several of the other comments about that photo sort of amusing. That said, is it really so funny to ask "What would you expect from a woman?"

OK, there's little in life that I find less interesting than being the gender police, and no one really enjoys hearing it all that much.
So I'll pipe down now, after saying that I when I was in elementary school and riding with my dad on his (CB400, I'm pretty sure), I had a helmet just like the striped one. I *knew* that I was the coolest nine year old in the world when I was wearing that helmet.

Lighten up Frances, I said that with my tongue very firmly in my cheek. I am all in favour of girls riding bikes and I am not in the least sexist. ( wife wouldn't let me be sexist after 56 years of marriage) Incidentally many years ago when I was very active in road racing, one of my toughest races ever was against a girl rider who I only just beat because my bike was a bit quicker than hers.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

You were doing so well, then you blew it!

If you would like to re-read your posting, you will see that you demeaned 'WOMEN' riders twice!

Being an 'old' biker is no excuse for suggesting females who ride are children.

 :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
;D ;D ;D :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D
(That should earn me some bronie points with the little woman  - ooops! ..... have I blown it now?)

Oh my.  You used the word 'girl' to describe a female rider.  In modern PC talk, that intimates that she is a child and is a mortal insult.  Unless, of course, she was under the age of twelve or so.  Over that age females must be referred to as women. Well, 'young woman' might be acceptable.  Unless she's on a school athletic team.  Then she's a woman.  Definetly.  Just imagine if  you refer to yourself and two or three males you ride with as 'the boys'.  Um, no, that isn't an insult because you are a member of that group.  Well, how about if someone else referred to your group as 'the boys'?  Wouldn't your feelings be horribly hurt?  Wouldn't they now?  Really?  I know mine would.  Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.  To imagine that non-PC language could appear on this site.  What IS the world coming to?

Disclaimer:  the above was supposed to be humorous and not a criticism of any person, group or philosophy.  All characters are fictional and resemblance to any person living or dead is unintended and accidental.  The author is exceedingly careful to use PC language at all times and in all places, being sure to refer to non-human species in homes as 'companion beings' ('companion animals' is not appropriate as it indicates cats and dogs are less than human) and all persons over the age of 12 as 'women' or 'men'.  Many more examples are available upon request.

PC = politically correct.  Terminology designed to offend nobody, in many instances by hiding the truth.  People are no longer mentally retarded, they are developmental disabled.  Or cognitively delayed.  Or any combination of the first and second words of either phrase.  It isn't 'the girl's team', it's 'the women's team'.  There are no janitors, there are maintainence engineers.  This gives rise to many opportunities for humor:  teen aged boys (men?) are hormonally challenged.  People aren't short, they are 'vertically challenged'.  Unless they are lying down.  Then they are horizonally challenged.  According to Gary Larson it isn't the Swamp Thing, it a Wetlands Challenged Mutant.  We could go on forever, but it's time to stop.

Dram, I've been called boy, man, retard ,wanker, and many other things in my lifetime and I don't take offence as I have enough confidence in myself and my abilities to let these comments wash over. When I say something to or about anyone I say it to their face and don't intend any offence. Maybe sometimes their sense of humour is different from mine and they don't find it funny or maybe I make a mistake (yes I admit to making mistakes) and my comment is not funny. I still say, I mean no offence and I feel a little sorry for people who are looking to take offence at the first opportunity.

Oldbiker:  I'm with you and was most definetly not offended by your post or anything that followed in the thread.   My post was intended to be a humorous comment on political correctness in response to Mark M 's post (which I took to be humorous) and not a slam at you or anyone else that responded.  The original picture and your comment was hillarious.  If someone was offended by it well, that's their problem.

It does seem that one picture is resulting in 1,000 words, doesn't it.

Hoooooooo!  Now you've all gone and done it!

I go away for a month or so (to help the animals abandoned when the hurricanes hit Louisiana and Mississippi) and you guys go off the deep end over some trollop who's got her helmet on as*-backwards!

AND THEN................................................

you go and insult TONY "who's your daddy?......... the one and ONLY.... HOTTIE"  BLAIR!

This is unacceptable behavior for grown men!

I've decided I can't go off-line for more than one or two weeks, cause you guys go to He** in a handbasket (or perhaps ...sidecar?) without my refining  ULTRA-PC-ness posts!

Linda - who would eat crackers with "who's your daddy Blair" just about anytime...except my Husband would NOT be agreeable to that type of behavior EVER!!!!
