Topic: Turn signal buzzers

My 1975 CB550K I bought a few years ago has a turn signal buzzer. Super loud and kind of annoying. My 750F1 has one but it only works sometimes.

Does anyone have a list of what bikes/ years that came with the buzzers?

I think buzzers only lasted from '73 to '75 or '76.
I'm pretty sure they were only on the fours.
Yeah super annoying, I unplugged the ones on my bikes.

We were asked to disconnect them in uk as the buzzer sounded like the beeper at pedestrian crossings and confused blind people

Make it useful by having it connected to a 'sidestand out' switch.

My 77 came with a signal light beeper but it did not work. I gutted it and put in a piezo device from an electronics dealer. If I do not want to hear the beeper I select the in between position on the selector switch so only the turn lights flash. It's a blast from the past sound that I can take or leave at my discretion.

I have a bin of them. Mounted then to our old golf cart and side X side so the grand children (and adults too) don’t back up over each other without warning! As soon as anything gets put in reverse, they wail.

On my K4, I can move the switch over slightly and the beep will stop but signal stays on.

Is that similar to the Europe delivered bikes with the P/A switch?

 My 78 GL1000 has a loud clicker below 40 mph and a beeper over 40 mph. I like it. I'd put the loud clicker on my 750's if it was easy enough. I suspect there is a truck flasher that does that but never found one.

The PA switch did the same as headlamp flasher on a car

My US 1978 model (manuf 11/77) 550K has one. I connected it up for originality when I put it back together. Ahhhh...disconnected it within the first week!

Theturn signal buzzer was the first thing I did to my '76 750.  Removed it after about 50 miles of riding.  It sat in my toolboxfor decades.  Never missed it.  However, after restoring my bike and being 40+ years older, kind of wish I had it, as after a turn, sometimes I forget to cancel the turn signal.  I feel kind of stupid going down the road after a turn and realizing I forgot to turn the thing off.  I guess there is a great thing about getting older..........There ia always the excuse........I'm old.

One of my riding buddies just got a new bike with self cancelling turn signals. Probably one of the truly useful innovations. Nothing worse than spotting a bike going straight through an intersection with a turnsignal flashing….. Makes me shudder.

My 1986 XJ600 had self cancelling indicators. Worked off the speedo cable with a reed switch I think. Worked well if you forgot to cancel yourself.

Follow the two wires into the headlamp shell and disconnect them

Hey Bryan , Thanks for the respond. 2 black wires from the left turn and 2 black wires from right turn. left goes to orange with white stripe and one is solid orange. the right side black wires go to light blue with white stripe and one solid light blue. Ive tried disconnecting everthing one at a time and it turns off both the beeper and signal. and now I cant get the signal to work I think I blew a fuse. Now I dont know where the fuse is located for the signals. I should have just left it alone. Thanks for your help

Am I supposed to be looking for 2 wires from the beeper itself because I cant tell where the damn beeper is

It's the brown/blue wire in the headlight bucket you need to disconnect. But... why didn't you consult the wiring diagram?

Do not identify your bike by 'year'. It's meaningless American folklore which often results in ordering the wrong parts as many here have found out. All CB500/550 parts lists are here: https://www.honda4fun.com/materiale/documentazione-tecnica. Just compare the engine- and framenumber of yours to those listed in one of the first four pages.

Hey guys, Stupid question. I have a 75 550-4, How do I disconnect the turn signal beepers. Those things are very annoying to me.

Open the headlight (3 JIS screws hold the headlight to the bucket)
Follow the wire into the bucket, push and pull the wire from the buzzer and look inside the bucket for the wire sleeve as it moves to find the bullet connectors and unplug the 2 wires.
Test to be sure everything else still works and then put the headlight back together.

Or you just push the headlight switch just half way and the buzzer won't buzz.
