Another Newbie from Ontario

Hello All!
Don't have a bike yet but looking to buy and figured this would be a great place to start and get some questions answered. I really want an early model 750 but have am currently scoping out an early 350 that's for sale locally. My question though, as this is my first bike is... would it be too small or a good starter for me? I'm 6'2" and 200lbs. I'm not concerned with blasting around at 200 clicks but would like to have something with enough power to keep me mobile.... I'm also looking at a '79 750 and I know you all are biased in favour of the sohc's but what is the consensus on this bike? Which would be easier to finds parts for? The 350 or 750? What about specific eccentricities or problems with each?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

thanks
chris

But if your not one to compromise, a 750 has amazing potential.  ;)

Here's my 2 cents for what it is worth....the 350 would be a little under powered. Partly due to your size and due to your riding ability. The 350's are great little bikes and if you know what you are doing you can throw em around pretty good and keep up for the most part with bigger bikes (atleast around the city etc) but the bigger displacement bikes don't require the same ability to coax the power from...seems like a little odd advice I am sure but that's the way I view it.

The 750 is a great bike but a little heavy for a first bike in my mind. Especially since you are likely having to do the graduated license thing (like I am in the middle of)....taking that bike for the road tests can be problematic due to having to walk it through the motions and low speed maneuverability. The 550 really is a good compromise....

Just my 2 cents...btw where abouts in Ontario are you?
