k3 clutch issue
« on: October 06, 2011, 03:04:40 PM »
I got a awesome deal on some k0 friction plates p/n 22201-ma7-000 but the tabs are bigger than my k3 frictions. When I try to install the frictions they hit the outer band and do not fit. Can I cut off this band. I think I have heard that this band warps and causes the clutches to drag. If I can cut it do I just use a cut wheel? See pic
Hondaman any suggestions?

Welcome Speed to the forums.Lots of good info and people here, maybe somebody who could use your clutch items if indeed different from a 73 which I will let others chime in on and not hog the thread.
My point would be that if your bike needs a specific item matched to your year, and it is as important as a clutch that you may have to use 5 times everytime you takeoff, that is not where you want to skimp or mod when the correct stuff is so easy to aquire.  Am I sounding OLD--------- :D

Talked to Mark (Hondaman) and he said he has had issues with MA(x) General Part numbers too. I had no idea that those even existed. I took some pics and PM'd him. I'm glad I found this forum.
