cb77 super hawk question
« on: April 24, 2025, 06:39:32 AM »
Were side stands "optional" on cb77's? My barn find acquisition shows no signs of one ever being installed. Thanks, Gary

Mine didn't have one (1968 model). I bought a custom chrome one for it.

to my knowledge no CB77's came with them by default.  They were an aftermarket accessory.

I have a 65 and a 67 and neither had one.  I have an aftermarket one to install at some point.

Is your new part chrome?
When I had my SuperHawk they were still a current "thing" (1969-1973) and my chrome sidestand was a big enough 'deal' that people would comment on how cool the bike looked when leaned over and parked. I learned one thing right away though: I couldn't start it on the sidestand for beans. That forward kick could just fold the stand up and over it would go! So, it always got started being held straight up.

Yep! The CB160 was similar. The aftermarket had some real nice sidestands back then for them, though.
