Fork Seal Shelf Life
« on: May 01, 2025, 05:42:07 PM »
Hey everybody. It's been a long time since I posted anything and I'm glad to see you're all still here raising HELL!! I'm getting old but I have 1 or 2 bike rebuilds left in me. I found a kid with an October 1969 CB750 he was going to cafe but I talked him out of it! I'm going through my parts stash and found some fork seals still in the package. They are probably 10 to 15 years old. Use em or toss em??? Thanks in advance!

Use them.. they are in plastic bags and have not been exposed to any elements. The shelf life is a very long time.

Congrats on the rescue from destruction.
Yes use them. They are still short and supple aren't they?
BTW the 292 are the seals for the 69-71 if the original forks are on it.
Start a new project thread on it in the Project Shop section. Keep us posted on how it is going along.

If you Toss them I’ll pay the shipping to my place..
😁😁😁

Might try “Seal Mate” first if you have one weeping…
They work well on CR’s if the seals not worn out…

Thanks for the advice. I'll use them. It has the original forks. I've owned quite a few of these and pretty much all were brought back to stock! Not this one, I'm going to do whatever it is I haven't thought of yet!!! I'll save all the original parts. It didn't come with and body work but I have everything but the side covers. I'll order those from 4 into 1. No exhaust but I 'm definitely using a header. To be continued in the Project Shop!!

Get the sidecovers from frankenstuff (member here)
Better than buying from Chinese 4into1
