Like your old beat up recliner, a weathered and faded leather jacket that still fits after years of use, or the perfect straw hat that has covered your head through years of yard work, some things just feel "right". The same can be said for a motorcycle, there is always one that sits in the garage, ridden or not, that you know is not going any where. Here is mine, a 1974 CB750K with 17k actual miles on the clock, verified because I bought it from the original owner in Tennessee about eight years ago now. It is far from pretty, the paint is chipped from the respray he had done a few years after it left the showroom because he hated the Honda green color, I agree fully. When the dealer sold him the bike, the number 5 was left out of the VIN by mistake when it was registered in 1974, I have copies of original title and paperwork but the bike went through registration in Virginia as an antique and still has the number missing on my title. Rather than fight with the DMV demons, I am content to live with it. The seller had let the bike set for many years in a connex on the property but it took very little to bring it back to life. Through the years I have added a period aftermarket exhaust that sounds throaty, but not obnoxious, a Cycle X clutch, although when it is idling it still sounds like a dryer full of crescent wrenches, and just normal maintenance here and there through my ownership. Sadly like the rest of my small herd it sees very little road time, but it still brings a smile when I do take it out. Though the years I have made a number of other K's a lot more ready for the prom than this old girl, but she looks just about perfect to me. This one is a keeper, and like other old proven things in life that bring joy and comfort, she is staying put.........
