just bought a 1976 honda 750ohc on the cheap,but i think its a bit of a mix an match at the moment.it has twin brakes on the front but i cant seem to recognise what they are off.any ideas?all id info appreciated.

Wow!  Don't think I've ever seen drum brakes on the front of a 750 before. ???

The base bike is a CB750K (k6 I think - need the numbers to verify the year). It looks like someone used a brit bike front drum on the bike replacing the disc (Looks like my old norton drum but I can't tell). There are a lot of nonstock aftermarket items on the bike (seat, levers, airfilters, etc) too, and some homemade items (like the left sidecover).

Hope you are planing to rebuild it because it looks like a death trap to me.

think ive done alright for £50.yeah a rebuild absolutely!just wanted to find out what ive got before i decide what to stay with and what to change.apparently the engine has had a complete rebuild but i need to confirm it yet.i thought it might be double drum system off an old brit bike but werent sure.im definately putting it back to disc brakes.ive pm,d serials to you if you wouldnt mind having a look.many thanks.

Your serials seem to check out as an English (UK) K6. They are also close enough together that they could be considered matching.

great,now to decide what to do.i think im gonna start strippping it down and see what ive got to work with.the engine seems to run nice which is a bonus.

ditto geeto, that looks like one scarey ride!
chain adjusters almost falling off they're backed out so much, funky angle on that rear brake adjuster, front drum brake ???

The front wheel/ brake is off a Suzuki GT 550/ 750.

wow,so it is!!does anyone think its worth keeping this brake system or should i go original. i dont suppose its upto disc brake standards.although it does look nice/different and it seems to work ok.
sorry for all the questions,i am constantly checking/searching forums for info and ideas.im in no rush with this bike and have built a small workshop especially for this project.thanks dgfischer/all.

GT750 drums are one of the best drums fitted to a stock bike. They bring big $$$$ in vintage racing here in the states. They are 4LS drums and wrok well at stoping a cb750 because the waterbuffalo (GT750) was close to if not more in weight to the cb750. Personally it all depends on what you want to do with the bike. If you are building a real period style cafe racer the drum may not be such a bad thing, you have to check to make sure that one has been installed correctly and isn't going to come off or something while riding.

i think id like to keep them,but of course i will get it all checked out.like i said before im going to strip the whole bike down,take the engine out (but just tidy it up)as its running fine and just basically start from the frame replacing and repairing as i build it back up.the electrics seem to be a complete lash up but i have got the basics to redo it.watch this space......................
