cb550 new carb options
« on: June 20, 2005, 06:18:34 AM »
IS there a NEW carb option for this bike.. A friend on this list mentioned 28mm  mikunis. Just wondering if there is a new option?
I really don't enjoy the endless frustration with the old carb bank..

THanks...

Michael - I'm new to my CB500.  What sort of frustrations do I have to look forward to?

sigh... the float height.. and the float valves.  THe floats are old, and can bind in the bowl.  The float gauges are home made using a ruler, so they are up to you to get right.  Other than that, they are easy to rebuild.  I have had 3 different 73-76 banks, and each one has one carb that leaks past the float valve...

if yours doesn't leak/overflow/flow to wrong level,  thank your lucky stars!

Not sure yet.  The bike is a non-runner.  I just did the carbs first, lots more to do.
