76 750F

I got this bike on the last day of 2024, and I have finally gotten around to working on it. It’s a 1976 CB 750F. The bike is Candy Sapphire Blue. Someone has repainted the bike, but I believe it is the original color. I know that it is supposed to be a 75 color, but I think it is a very early production model. Frame seral # is 2000020. I wonder if they just used up the rest of the blue paint. Anyway, it’s in pretty good shape, but it needs some work. The PO had rigged a start switch after the original broke, so, I am replacing that. One of the throttle cables was missing, I ordered two new cables, plus a clutch cable and a throttle tube. It has an aftermarket master cylinder on it. The guy I bought it from said it needs to be bled. If that doesn’t work, I have two stock MCs. I will try to rebuild one of them. The gas tank is a little rusty, but not bad. I will have to clean that. The carbs have been setting without an airbox. It would probably be a good idea to clean them and rebuild them. I am going to get an ultra-sonic cleaner, big enough that I can put all four in at one time. I tried a good battery in the bike and most of the lights worked. I will have to do some checking on the others. Unless something unexpected shows up, I should be able to get it back on the road. The biggest problem is the time to do it!

Neat serial number too.

That is an early number F1. Nice.
The one I picked up in September is 3,019 later. It was originally sold in Maine, and it also had a 75 paint on it, the orange. I like the orange but unfortunately the tank was too far gone, having been based I'm multiple places from the outside, very ugly... so I bought a 76F1 paint set that came up in Anteres red. Mine is still setting covered up awaiting it's turn on the lift.
