1974 CB350F Added to my collection
« on: May 18, 2025, 02:10:15 PM »
Excited to get my new acquisition home. 2557 original miles. It looks to be accurate as the original Bridgestone Super Speed tires have some original nubbies on the edges. Looking over the screws, bolts and other fasteners have not been touched. The paint on the tank and side covers are amazing. If you have never seen one of these with the black metallic paint it's a sight to see in the sunlight as the metallic is muti-color and shows a full spectrum of colors. The exhaust looks like a honda replacement and looks to be brand new. Looking at other bikes with original exhaust the marking on this one has "SL" on the left and ""SR"" on the right. I don't see that on the originals.

Purdy little thing that.

A few years back some pattern systems were available and those markings remind me of the markings on the pattern 500 ones at the same time

Very nice. Only black tanks I've seen are completely faded.

I am going to leave this one alone in its unrestored condition. The tank needs cleaning as do the carbs. I will do that and get it running good . I have to ride my bikes so this one will get in the rotation of getting around the town I live in. The speed limit is 25 so I am not to worried about the original rubber.
It is hard to get a good Pic of the tank sparkles
Honda was doing some great stuff with their paint

Not sure i could ever match this paintjob!

Here is a picture. Best i could get.

Thanks everyone. I may have an addiction to Honda bikes.

Just one more!

Very fortunate that my other half agrees with me that these are just a part of my "diversified investment portfolio"  Money is nice but you can't ride it around town.

according to this article, there is evidence you may have original pipes. You can see an "SR" in the one photo of his rotted out pipes.
That is a great find.

These super low milers only turn up in the States (though the 350 was not sold in UK anyway). Vey nice.
Original 500 pipes are marked IL 2L IR 2R.

Nice.
I put a red one back together 15 years ago without 4/4s.
 Should of kept it but.
That tool kit tray lid was hard to find.
I don,t remember what I paid on ebay but
it was probably close to 1/4 of the price of the project bike i started with
which was 200$
 I had to have it!

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

I got the inside of the tank really clean. I soaked it for 3 days with Evapo-Rust. Followed up by 15+ rinses and agitation with chain and diesel fuel to flush all the water and debris out.

Its hard to know what you are going to get when buying a bike like this from out of state. I usually assume that i will need to do some work on it in one way or another.
This bike is very nice on the outside but the tank was nasty and it leaked fuel from the overflows and number 3 was not running as there was no fuel getting to the bowl.
Likely the PO who has it for only 4 years only knew what it was like to ride it running on 3 cylinders. If you didn't know it kinda runs ok but is a dog.
Today i took off the carburetors expecting to find a mess inside! wrong! they were super clean with all original brass.
All 4 floats did not move freely on the pins . Especially #3 was stuck in the closed position.
I polished the pins and reamed the bore on the floats to give them free movement again. put it all back together and it runs like a dream with no leaks.
The issues on these bike in my experience is always something simple, hence why when i troubleshoot i eliminate all the simple stuff first

Is the yellow car a Pontiac??

I'm guessing 1970 Mercury Cougar -- XR7? My first car was a $500 1967 Cougar. Wish I would've taken care of that thing.
