#4 K6 and Vermont Van Load
« on: May 30, 2025, 05:44:38 AM »
Well I went and done it again.....
Yesterday I got in the van with some cash to drive 150 miles over to northern Vermont to get another K6 project from a 40ish something guy, he said he had gotten it from his brother and rebuilt the carbs and had it running and riding it in 2013 for a year until the chain spit out the back on the road (no engine hole thankfully!). It has an new chain to go on and rear sprocket on it, a decent tank, lite rust in the long time empty tank, he said he only used non ethanol gas. 15,041 miles and a title. Motor kicks over. Front brake was sticking so I loosened the allen screws to roll it up the ramp into my Town and Country van,  paid him the cash and got the paperwork completed. So it is be added to the queue.

After I left his house, I pulled over having remembered that there was another ad for 750 parts @1/2 hr further north in the town of Lincoln. Made a call, left a message as he didn't answer, so I drove north towards the town by GPS and called again a few minutes later and he answered,  yes he'd meet me at his friend's barn where he was storing the parts and he sent the address.
Nick is 75 and didn't figure he'd get to any more projects to use the stuff. He wanted to get rid of it all for $750. We haggled for a bit as he didn't want to let go of the original exhaust he had as he was going to put it on his K2 he still has. So I got a bunch of used parts for $350, the best being a decent Sandy?? K0?? ducktail seat(red foam showing in the center holes).
I left Nick's house as he sent me up over Lincoln Gap Rd(steep mountain pass) to get over to Rt 100(great bike road!!). Some great scenery there(gotta get back up there on the bikes!).
I stopped at the Hungry Diner in Walpole NH(local organic food) and had their 3 fish tacos plate as I was just munching on granola bars and no lunch so I was famished. They were good! Almost forgot to get a picture....

I have my work cut out for me to unload the van today and figure out where to put it all.....
Then I have to address the van brakes that are sticking again (on the 2nd set already in 3 years of calipers and rotors...)

It was a long day on the road rescuing the bike and parts but well worth the trip guys. Got back to the shop @ 8:30pm @330 miles total and a tank of gas, I had to coast down some of the hills the last 20 miles to get back to the gas station!
I did a quick cleaning up of the seat and side covers for the pictures.

The only 350 parts are  the 72/73 sidecovers. They are whole and available if someone has a need.

I was looking at Yamiya just a couple of days ago thinking about wanting one on my K2 and I had to put on my poker face when I saw it sitting there.

Today I went through the boxes and milk crates sorting out the haul. A set of 7A, 086A and a set of PD42B carbs.
Lots of nuts and bolts, cables, hoses, engine covers, turn signals, tail lights and brackets, a couple of rusted fenders, K1 speedo and Tach, K3/4 speedo, K2 forks and trees, K8 front brake parts. And way at the bottom of one of the "what's in it boxes" was a rectangular cardboard box with a lightly used fork brace, and I saw a steering damper that I didn't pull out of the bag it's in(tomorrow afternoon when I get back from the Brit Jam......

I was quite surprised to find it to say the least. I have another that I bought on ebay 3 years ago that I paid dearly for so I might let that one go.
