Why is the oil pressure light on ??

Thanks for the observation.   I will look into it before starting the bike again.  Checking the oil level would be a good place to start  :D
Unscrew one of the 8 tappet caps, start and see if oil gets splashed around in there. Usually its a bad pressure switch, but you never know.

Assuming there is oil splashing up top, don’t be in a rush to change the switch. They can get stuck on or off, but a few heat cycles often gets them working again….. Definately give it an oil and filter change! You never know when it was last done!

Thanks mate.  Changing the oil and oil filter is easy and fun to do so that is a logical first step  :)

Very surprised there is clean brake fluid in the master cylinder and the front disc brake is working.  Totally shocked!  I also noticed the front brake rotor is steel and not stainless steel like on my CB750

Front disc brakes are surprisingly working OK.  Rotor is regular steel (small magnet is visible).  Why is the inner hub blue?

Looks like a stock rotor, someone painted the hub. Should be black.
Stock rotors have some magnetism, enough to grab a magnet (at least in my experience)

Thanks Gentlemen.  I was wondering why there was so little rust on the rotor.  If it was regular steel it would have been covered in rust.  Stainless Steel in Thailand is a beautiful thing  :D

Although I might not agree with the previous owner's choice of inner hub color I like what he did with the cover screws and replaced them with hex head bolts.

Thank You Mr. Previous Owner  :D

Just make sure you put anti-seize on those hex head bolts and don't over torque!

I finished up the list of everything TW2 will be needing along with estimated costs.  As I am nearing completion with the restoration of "Thai Wife #1" I now have a very good idea of the cost of vintage Honda CB parts.  They are expensive in addition to shipping and import/custom duties.

After showing the list to the ladies I said . . .

"Why I waste all my money on old Honda motobikes.  It's Stupid"

And Kannika replied . . .

"Same same me.  Why I waste all my money on Lottery.  It's Stupid"

I have been having enormous fun restoring the Honda CB750 and the bike now looks so much better.  And with the help and assistance from all the good friends on the SOHC forum it really is a fun hobby . . .  and the odds of winning are in my favor  :)

Thank You Gentlemen!

Money Go  ::)

I bought this cheap charlie helmet today for TW2 (only $30).    I bought a high quality Bell Custom 500 pearl white with red and blue stripes for TW1

There's plenty of old bikes to go round, you just have to expand your brand circle.

Previous owner changed the colors of the side cover emblems.  I believe this is how the Honda CB550 emblems should look  :)

Also the Gold color on this CB550 is much lighter than the darker Candy Gold on my CB750.  I am certain both bikes have been repainted.  Is there a big difference between the Honda Starlight Gold and Candy Gold??
