Thanks.   The engine plates will have some changes before the bike is finished.  The oil lines will pass through to the tank that isn't made yet.  I might cut it and weld in an offset to get it behind the frame instead of outside.  Then they'll get either polished, painted black, or engine turned finish.  Once I get to making the lower mounts and the engine comes out I'll look into finishing on them.

I did make new lower shock eyes.  They aren't set up for a bushing because I plan on getting good shocks before the bike is on the road.  But I did need to get them to the correct length.   They ended up 1/2" shorter than I could get the original pieces.  But that gets me the correct 12" length.

Finally made the crossmember to mount the latch for the tank strap, and the front stop for the tank.  I used anti-vibration feet for the front stop.  Now that the tank is mounted I can start looking at the seat and oil tank.

Learning to use the english wheel by making a fender.  So far so good, but it's not nearly as easy as Ron Covell makes it look in his videos.  Probably the decades of experience I lack.

Since I need a bead roller to finish the fenders I picked up an eastwood one that was on sale.  So that left me with the problem of it really takes 2 people to use.  So I decided to make it powered.  I used a 2000lb trailer winch from harbor freight, modified the drum to fit where the handle goes.  I'm using a 30a power supply and a 12v dc motor control to get forward and reverse with speed control.

With the bead roller done I made some progress on the rear fender.  So far I'm pretty happy with how it's looking.

The fenders are ready for cleanup and polishing.  I might redo them someday, but I'm pretty happy with them for a first try.  Ron Covell and Wray Schelin on YouTube were a huge help with their metal working videos.

Thanks,  after I did the fenders I got distracted by making a work stand.  Now I'm starting to work on the oil tank.

Slow progress is happening.  I polished the fenders, and I'm close to cutting metal forthe oil tank.  I did pick up a spare gt750 front brake at the swapmeet today.  Got a pretty good deal on it.

This is a project that has been lurking in the back of my mind for a long time, great to see someone actually making it a reality  :D

I see that you´ve notched the frame on the right side under the back of the engine.
What other (if any...) mods to the frame have you had to do to make the engine fit?

Cheers

That's it, and the clearance isn't really needed.  I found a picture of a cb motor in a wideline frame where they just tilted the engine for clearance.  I chose to notch and brace to keep the countershaft more inline with the swingarm pivot.
