Managed to get a few hours on the bike this past week (seriously cold here for the UK, so not spent much time wrenching).
Wheels came back from the wheel builder & were fitted with new Conti RB2/K112 tyres. I love the Contis on these bikes - they look period correct and ride really nicely on UK roads.
Rear wheel fitted, managed to tear my hair out for a few hours, wondering why the wheel wouldn't fit - realised I'd somehow mixed up the outer LH spacer with a CB750F1 that I had re-zinc'd in the same batch. All sorted now & fitted.
I had the rear brake hub liner replaced a couple of years back and had this hub on the shelf, so nice to finally be using it.
Fitted the rear indicator mounts & will build a set of indicators from stock parts I have here.
Front wheel pre-assembled with NOS Genuine Honda brake disc.
All bearings replaced on both front & rear hubs.
I found a NOS genuine Honda K3-K6 seat in my stash, so for now I'll fit that until I find a bit of time to rebuild the K1 seat I was initially planning to use. So the seat latch was swapped for the key-operated type to match the seat plunger.
I suspect I may go down the K1 route eventually, given that I'm using the JDM Silver K1 body set, and I know the later seat match will just irk me lol. I just don't fancy trying to fit the original K1 seat cover to the painted K1 seat pan I have here in this cold weather, in case I split the vinyl.
Waiting on a few bits to arrive from the usual suspect (CMSNL/DSS).
Was planning to order a few more bits from Yamiya but struggling to navigate and order on their new website - what a clusterf**k that site launch has been for them.
Carbs are on the bench being cleaned/rebuilt over the weekend.
Gauges arrived back from the gauge builder last week & look NOS.
Somehow, these projects seem to gain a life of their own, and what was supposed to be a light recommission ended up more of a high-end build. Typical me - just can't leave them alone lol.
More updates next week as they happen. I'm targeting a March 1st first-fire.
