carbs

For carbs on a single cam 998 build, I have roundtops, F2 keyhole carbs, Mikuni 29 smoothbores and a new set of rubbers to adapt them, and untested used Webers jetted for our bikes.
The Mikuni 29's came off of a GS1100, popular opinion was that they were too small for it, but it ran pretty good even with the 1.5 cutaway slides. And I have jets in stock.
I'm wondering if a set of new Mikuni 34 flatslides would be safer?
