1977 Honda CB750 Will not run without choke on.....
« on: July 28, 2025, 06:36:52 PM »
Hello all I need some help, I have a 1977 Honda CB750k. At first the bike would not run right so i took apart the carbs and did a full cleaning of them and even replaced the floats and the Slow jets from the 4into1 website, I also installed a Delkevic 4into1 exhaust on the bike. Since the rebuild of the carbs i have had issues with getting the bike to run with the choke off, starts up fine and runs great with choke on but as soon as the choke is off it dies out. After reviewing some posts with similar issues thinking maybe the slow jet passages were clogged, i took them apart again and sprayed carb cleaner on all 4 slow jet holes and saw visually that they were clear and it was coming out. I think maybe it might be the new Jets replaced they have 8 holes compared to the 6 holes that the original had. That's the only thing i can think of that may be an issue, otherwise im at a loss and was hoping someone with similar experience might be able to shed some light. Any advice is well welcome at this point. If i cannot figure it out i may send them to get professionally rebuilt and cleaned.
link to the ones i had ordered,

TLDR-Bike will not run without choke, passages for slow jet are clear. Replaced slow jets with kit from 4into1.com and had 2 more holes then original ones.
at a loss and looking for any advice or things to try before giving up and sending for professional cleaning.  Looking for anything to try at this point.

4into1.com does not sell correct carb parts for any of the SOHC4 bikes. They never have.
Don't buy any critical parts from them: you WILL be disappointed with problems, much like those you're experiencing now.
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

The demons are repulsed when a man does good. Use that.
Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

While you're at it, make sure the teeny tiny vent holes are clear.

Thank you thats what I was thinking reverting back to the old jets and seeing if it makes a difference.

You need first to verify that the old jets are genuine Keihin.  They should have the special K logo on them. Otherwise, get jets at jets-r-us...

Have you actually removed the press in pilot jets? They block up for a passtime

Replace those awful 4-int-1 floats with the originals as well if they're undamaged and within spec. I've had 4-into-1 floats fail after a season but my good 'ole original undjustable floats are still sealed and within spec.
