CB700sc Fuel Petcock
« on: July 28, 2025, 01:33:32 PM »
Hey, all.
Been a long while since I've been on here. Don't do much with my '76 CB750F anymore as I have many other projects.
Anyways, I'm nearing the end of a restoration project on an '84 CB700SC Nighthawk that did not come with a fuel petcock, (amongst many other parts). I've purchased 3 and returned them all because they just do not fit even though they are advertised to by the seller. Problem is, the oem is near impossible to find and the aftermarket ones have the vacuum and fuel nozzle on the wrong side. The fuel nozzle needs to come out on the left and all the ones I've come across come straight out from the opposite side of the selector, pointing right into the airbox. They have the vacuum nozzle coming out the right side when left is ideal.
I am hoping someone else here has found an aftermarket one that works or was able to modify something that works. The thread size on the nut to the tank is 20mm X 1mm.
This has been a 4-month long project and if not for this issue, I would be ready to take my first ride in about a week.
On a side note, I've restored several bikes and if there's anything I've learned, ......it's cheaper to buy a restored motorcycle than to do it yourself. But I've enjoyed the experience. ;)
Thank you!
