That blue color isn’t original right?

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Yeah wtf. I’d take the blue over any of the other colors any day!

Where can I listen?
On the 'period additions', some were questionable imo. For instance: what's that oil cooler doing there? They often do more harm than good on bikes that are healthy temperature wise and are even cold blooded.
Looks very, very nice, although the CB550(K0) is still my favourite.
Wonder what rear shocks those are.

Apparently the previous owner had it on back in the 70’s?

In my opinion it's healthy. What you hear, is not exceptional for a CB500/550. If it annoys you, adjust idle to not lower than 1200 rpm. A perfectionist could opt for these steps:
1. have an identical dwell for 1+4 and 2+3.
2. identical timing for 1+4 and 2+3 within 1,5 - 2 degrees of eachother
3. precision synching the carbs.
Personally I don't give a d@mn what the idle sounds like, as long as my engine starts humming at > 2500 rpm.

I thought that too, as mine had to have the valve cover replaced.  But, that noise cleans up with a rev of the bike, mine was loud everywhere in the RPM range.

Honda really just needs to make a modern vintage cb550. Nothing beats the style.

Why this wave of Facebook links all of a sudden? Facebook is becoming a thing of the past. Please realise that millions in Europe have already dumped Facebook.

FB has never been something I've used much. I dipped my toe but backed off.

My apologies as the link was not meant to exclude some SOHC Forum members.   I imagine someone could use a FB downloader and then upload the video to another 3rd party site with public access (like youtube) and then repost.

I don't know what I did, but somehow I could watch it in a small phonesize format.
That's about the healthiest CB500/550 I've heard in a long time. These new exhausts certainly attribute to that nice, thumpy sound. Wish it was mine.

Just listed on Ebay.  IMO a screaming bargain in this condition.

Under normal circumstances it would have been my ideal vehicle to do another US tour. As a matter of fact I've dreamed for years of acquiring such a bike as I am familiar with them. Alas, alarming reports of Dutch visitors who - inspite of their ESTA - have been refused entry, after their phones were examined at the border. Make no mistake: this is fact, not an opinion. My last visit was this March, before this all started. The number of Dutch visiting the US have now dropped by 40%. Let's hope for better times.

Nice bikes and good to see one of them that has been well used with a high-ish mileage.

This just popped up not far from you....

https://richmond.craigslist.org/mcy/d/richmond-74-cb550/7871457072.html

I just noticed that the mirrors on the CB550 shown on the clymer manual are exactly the same as on the bike  :o
